Our concept

“Bio Fair Südtirol” is all about increasing the presence of organic and regional South Tyrolean produce in the local cuisine and meals. Our project promotes using South Tyrolean ingredients while creating sustainable bridges between agriculture and tourism.

We want to ensure certified, organic produce is used more and more.

The strong connection between agriculture and cuisine creates a win-win partnership – farmers profit from a higher demand of their products, while restaurants can offer their guests genuine and high-quality meals.

We will support whoever opts for this solution by providing actionable suggestions and plans, access to a network of regional suppliers, and tailored implementation plans.

Criteria

To become a “Bio Fair Südtirol” partner, restaurants and accommodations need to meet specific criteria. These ensure that the quality and sustainability of the products offered are guaranteed and that the principles of the project are respected.

The yearly purchasing value of organic food and beverages needs to represent at least 30% of the total value (bronze level).

The implementation of the concept is verified by an independent control centre according to civil law. The partners are subjected to an annual control and, upon passing said control, become a “Bio Fair Südtirol” partner.

By being a partner, you have to use the following South Tyrolean organic products:

Apples & apple juice
Fresh milk
Butter
Yogurt
Mozzarella
Wine

The following need to be organic, fair trade products:

Coffee
Cocoa and cocoa-based products
Cane/beet sugar
Tea
Bananas

We’ll raise your visibility!

Our certifications

Our partners are assigned to one of three categories depending on the amount of organic foodstuff and beverages used. The have to use specific South Tyrolean organic food and fair-trade products, for which they are controlled and certified.

Bronze

30-60% organic food and beverages unlock the BRONZE category.

Silver

60-90% organic food and beverages unlock the SILVER category.

Gold

90-100% organic food and beverages unlock the GOLD category.
